Getting ready for Super Bowl XLVI

I don't know what it is with this dog and his penchant for eating highlighters. Also of note is that although Chris took this photo, he did <i>not</i> remove the plastic bits from the kennel afterwards
Chris finally agreed to get rid of 10 rolls of film (<i>old school</i> film) that expired about 12 years ago, and David got to play. We had to explain to him what it is and how it worked. We felt old
See, when the light hits the knobs in the kitchen, they just brighten up the place so much, don't they, Mom?
Chris volunteered at Winterfest last Saturday (for 12 hours!). Upland Brewery had a…uh…mannequin... to display their shirts on
We don't mind being snobby elitists
Emily was all ready to watch <i>Downton Abbey</i> with friends Sunday night but had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. She had prepared, however, by making little sandwiches with the crusts cut off. Because, as she explained, you can cut anything into little triangles and it becomes Bristish food
Today's pattern: the Eiffel Tower. Our kid is veeeery creative (but also very culturally aware)
This is only the beginning of XLVI excitement
The Convention Center has been turned into the NFL Experience; we got two free tickets through Emily's volunteer positions, and headed down there on Tuesday to check it out
So we waited in one line for 30 minutes to get into the box office for our 3rd ticket. Then we waited in another line for 15 minutes to get the ticket. Then we waited in a 10 minute line to get our tickets scanned. Then Emily waited in line for 10 minutes for a pretzel but had to jump out of line to wait in another 10 minute line to get a wristband to participate in the activities. Chris and David waited in a line for 20 minutes so David could <i>run a 40 yard dash</i>. You know, a totally novel experience
It was worth the wait to see him flying down the turf
Flying onto the foam pad at the finish line. Peyton lost his shoes on the 20.
He's not quite as poised as the other kids, but he makes up for it in speed
He was bummed that there weren't actual tires to step through, but he liked the obstacle course a lot
He's pretty agile, this Twinkle Toes of ours
Dodge, dip, duck, dive, and dodge...
Over and under and across and through and fast
Running out of the tunnel
My guess is that his locker really <i>isn't</i> this tidy in real life
Gronkowski's helmet. Notice that the Patriots' helmets are sparkly and glittery
The "locker rooms" have a lot of stuff in them
Wilson had people making footballs. You could (of course) buy one and have it personalized
This one's for you, Cappy
We thought he looked less like a linebacker and more like Michael Keaton at the end of Beetlejuice
Most of these rings have more than 100 diamonds and weigh at least six ounces. Those are large rings
It's all shiny now, but by Sunday night it's going to be covered in sweaty fingerprints…hopefully Giants' fingerprints
David tried his hand at hurling, an Irish sport that is a little like field hockey and golf and baseball and jai alai, but traditionally with more beer
He's got to work on his aim a bit before he takes to the field, but for the time being, thank goodness for the safety net
The Indy Hurling League's mascot, Freedom
We played a nice round of family cornhole. We need to get our own set, really
David's photo of the Zipline. Now imagine it with people on it
First he hurled, then he curled. And he did pretty well, too…got it in the target!
There's the wind-up
Check out the look of intensity
We were wandering around the village right in time for the evening fireworks and laser show
It was just. so. cool. to be downtown
The atmosphere and energy downtown was just so awesome…I know haters gonna hate, but it's been awesome to have the Super Bowl here!
The IPL (Indianapolis Power & Light) building put on a pretty neat show, too
I could have watched these pretty lights all evening, too
Walking home through White River State Park after my volunteer shift on Wednesday evening, heading west
I really do like this city
